 | Since its inception in 1986, the Waterloo Junior Golf Association has gained prominence as one of the premier junior golf programs in Iowa. The purpose of the Association is to provide an environment where a junior golfer, male or female ages 7-18, can enjoy golf and progress at his/her own rate from beginner to a proficient level while promoting and preserving the traditions and integrity of the game. By being committed to this purpose, the WJGA continues to build its reputation as being one of the best in preparing junior golfers for the future. The WJGA is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and gains its funding through memberships and contributions. Contributions to the WJGA are thus tax deductible by individuals and corporations alike. The WJGA is governed by a Board of Directors who are leading area businessmen, golf enthusiasts and golf professionals. Members of the Board serve as volunteers and help guide the activities of the WJGA. In 2004, our founder and President of the Waterloo Junior Golf Association, Tom Berg was inducted into the Waterloo golf Hall of Fame. Tom's tireless efforts not only promoted junior golf in the Cedar Valley over the last 16 years, but his tremendous amount of time and passion for building the WJGA into the fine organization that it is today. Tom is also an outstanding role model who displays dedication, loyalty, and fairness to all of the junior golfers, which he considers true friends during their participation in the WJGA and after they leave the program.
